Dr. Miriam Chan
Dr. Chan is a board Certified Pediatric Anesthesiologist
The Pediatric Surgery Centers of Brandon and Odessa would like to introduce the newest member of our anesthesia team, Dr. Miriam Chan, MD. Dr. Chan is dual board certified in both General Anesthesia and Pediatric Anesthesia by the American Board of Anesthesiology. Dr. Chan completed her undergraduate studies at the University of Florida, where she received multiple degrees in Mathematics, Statistics, and Microbiology. She proceeded to earn her medical degree from University of Florida College of Medicine. Following medical school, Dr. Chan completed a General Pediatric Residency at the Miami Children’s Hospital. Following her General Pediatric training, she then went on to complete Anesthesiology specialty training at the University of Miami Miller School of Medicine at Jackson Memorial Hospital. Finally Dr. Chan completed her Pediatric Anesthesia Subspecialty training at the prestigious Univers ity of Pennsylvania Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia, one of the leading children’s hospitals in the nation.
Dr. Chan joins us from the Fort Lauderdale based, Joe DiMaggio Children’s Hospital. There she was the Co-Director of Pediatric Regional Anesthesia and helped to develop the regional anesthesia division, providing extremity specific anesthesia and minimizing the need for general anesthestics. She was also active in resident and student education.
In her free time, Dr. Chan enjoys spending time with her husband of six years and two children. She enjoys in participating in a healthy lifestyle. Her interests include running, yoga, spinning, and skiing. She is fluent in Spanish, and is currently learning Chinese.
